First Floor Remodeling in Wallingford, CT
This Wallingford homeowner purchased her home from her parents and was ready to make it her own. It is a cape style home built in the 1940s and she wanted to open up the first floor. This involved removing the fireplace and chimney, moving the half bathroom for more kitchen space, and turning a three season room into the laundry and half bathroom. She came to Bencar Building Systems on recommendations from family members who have seen our work. This project couldn't start until summer break and needed to be done by the time it started up again. We have a solid remodel process that ensures projects are completed when expected so we knew we could accomplish that! Our remodeling pros all worked through the project items a few times to get it in her budget without sacrificing what she wanted to accomplish. It takes time and patience but we give a hard price proposal rather than allowances to avoid surprises and so a homeowner will be comfortable knowing the project is in their budget!
We brought all our necessary trade partners to the home to review electrical, plumbing, and HVAC wants and needs. The kitchen remodel was handled by our designer at Bender Showrooms in New Haven. The cabinets selected were Fabuwood Galaxy Frost for the perimeter and the island was Siteline with a Walton door and Nimbus paint color. Misterio quartz was selected for the countertop. Bencar laid 5" wide natural hardwood throughout the first floor and Neal's Flooring of Branford did the sand and finish. The project finished up with Sherwin Williams Reflection which is a lovely grey with green undertones, and a backsplash of Glazzio Blue Jubilee tile. We include an allowance for a tile backsplash in our kitchen remodel pricing but recommend to the homeowner that they wait until paint is on the walls and the cabinets and countertops are installed before selecting tile because this is the absolute last piece of the project. The project was eight weeks from start to finish and the homeowner (and her parents) was thrilled with the results!
