Existing homeowners approached us regarding a kitchen remodel in their home following three previous projects Bencar Building Systems had completed for them. They met with the same architect for this project because it involved bumping out the side wall of the kitchen for additional space as well as re-designing the entrance from the garage, creating a mudroom, and remodeling the powder room.
The homeowners also met with Daryl Zorn from Bender Showrooms for the cabinet layout and to make their cabinet selections. Next, we sent them to Discovery Granite and Marble in Wallingford to select the slab for their countertops. Once the construction drawings were approved, we met with our trade partners for a review of the drawings and their hard pricing on the project. Finally, the detailed outline and cost were presented, and after some revisions and additions, the contract was signed.
We started with the foundation and exterior work in early November and left them with their home intact until after the holidays. From there, it was a 10-week project with a carefully devised schedule to allow inspections by the building department and to minimize travel for our trade partners. The project was a beautiful success, and they are enjoying the results!
