This homeowner was referred to us by their neighbor for whom we completed a very similar project. They had a new layout for their first floor designed by a local architect who designed the neighbor's remodel as well! We here at Bencar Building Systems love old homes and are thrilled to see homeowners keeping the character while updating their homes. This one is a beautiful colonial built in 1925. But as is the case with older homes, the kitchen is a little small! The architect came up with the idea to block off the doorway leading into the kitchen from the front door which allowed a pantry with a baking station to be added. A small coat closet was added facing the front door in the new entry to replace one eliminated.
The homeowners selected Fabuwood Cabinets in Galaxy Pecan and a Desert Brown granite which were purchased through Bender Showrooms in New Haven. Hardwood flooring was installed in the kitchen and foyer to match the existing flooring in the house. A 3x6 Ivory subway tile from the Masia Collection was supplied and installed by North Haven Ceramic Tile of Wallingford. Five panel stain grade doors added just the right touch for this beautiful remodel. Along with the kitchen, the full bathroom off the kitchen was remodeled. That project included changing the tub/shower to a standing shower and moving the vanity and sink as well as cosmetic changes. The homeowners were thrilled with the work and the whole Bencar Building Systems crew!
